Celebrating...It's Not For Show

Tonight we celebrated my husband’s birthday in typical Behm fashion.

We built some snow creatures, ate stew and played board games.

No cake, no cards or gifts or parties, but a whole lot of laughter and family time.

Peeking in, it looks like a casual family night. But it was special.

Our son, who has battled serious anxiety for years was smiling genuinely and cracking jokes and playing with his sister. They had a snowball fight and we played hours of games.

To see our son happy and healthy, that is the best birthday celebration ever.

When you have something to celebrate, how do you REALLY want to celebrate? Do you go through the motions of how you’re “supposed” to do a milestone date? Or do you choose what fits and feels best to YOU?
